One can't say enough for the achievement and contribution this album made to the psyche of 1980s music. This band's anti-establishment lyrics and rowing-against-the-current style, proffered by its lead singer/songwriter Morrissey, cemented some of our most treasured memories of 80s music. This album, released in February 1984, encompasses some of their best known work.

Ride stormed onto the scene with this 1990 album with it's famous cover art featuring blue water with a single wave. In a way, the cover stands for the guitar reverberation apparent on the album which forms their core sound. "Paralysed", "Dreams Burn Down", and especially "Vapour Trail" are highly memorable songs. The Wikipedia entry for this album is remarkably minuscule for an album of such importance. One of the reason's it's forgotten is that by its 1983 release date, post-punk sound had largely waned. Roxy Music went largely unheard here in the United States when they were together. It's a huge loss, I think, to American audiences. This 1974 album, along with 1982's "Avalon", for me encompasses the crux of Brian Ferry's best sound. [First added to this chart: 03/26/2011]
