Top 50 Greatest Music Albums ratings

AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 83.2/100, a mean average of 83.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.5/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 8.8.

Great album list! I think you are playing it too safe, we`ll know those albums are great by themselves, but you must have some albums there that are your favorite but not simply everyone's favorite. Keep it up, diversify

I'll agree there's way too much Beatles (within 45 albums, there's the same amount of Beatles as I have Radiohead in my entire 100, from which I then assume that there will only be MORE Beatles in the bottom 50), but there's at least one comment on here that's semi-douchey. No need to chastise him for his tastes revolving around acclaimed or classic albums.

The La's album does keep creeping up the more I listen to it, not heard it for such a long time it isn't higher as the ones above ive played a lot more, it is a work of genius though!

Great music on the chart, but I understand the critics... RFNaples gets the same thing. Your chart is safe - not particularly unique.

Bit of heavy reliance on a few bands. I'm not struggling to find people who like Radiohead, Pink Flyod or The Beatles on this site.
