"An under water guy who controlled the sea,
Got killed by ten million pounds of sludge,
From New York and New Jersey"

I may not listen to this as much as I used, but damn, I don't have it in my heart to move it off top spot, it just means a lot to me and was pretty much love at first listen. Every so often when I do dust it off and put it on blaring, I still have it in me to air guitar (or something of that ilk) my way through 'Debaser' (young Pat once fell straight through a stool which he jumped on whilst doing this, shattering the whole thing). I first heard this while studying for school exams, I was cramming in a packed library, other students nearby left little to no breathing space (I've since adopted a more suited style of study where I lock myself alone in my room, but I digress...), anywho, I needed to get out of there and right next door was a shopping centre with a handful of places to check out of music, here I stumbled upon the Pixies. I'd heard a bit about this album but had never actually listened, so I figured now was as good a time as any, then bam! I've loved it ever since, there's no need to describe and try to do it justice, you've all heard it at this stage, so just go enjoy it, hopefully others get as much from it as I do.

Fun fact: My girlfriend caught Francis' guitar pick at gig a few years back, she's the best.

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.5/100, a mean average of 91.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.9/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 9.8.

My new favourite chart. Thanks for rating mine. This is a very eclectic, good quality chart. I agree with almost all of them but that won't stop me giving full marks. And some albums to check out, esp the Irish ones I've never heard of like Ginnels and others. I heard of Planxty through liking Billy Connolly's stand-up. Top stuff man. and I like all the quotes from songs.
I enjoyed reading this.
