Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Good chart, the 80's was not a great decade for music in general but it wasn't all bad. 22 albums in common and all the usual suspects are here : U2 REM Prince and good to see Janet Jackson Madonna & Lionel Richie. A little too much Genesis but I like Peter G. Overall 85/100

Outstanding chart! Purple Rain, Doolittle, and Murmur are all great selections. Also nice to see Listen Like Thieves, which is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me (but not really), on here. I like 1999 in the top ten, as it's nearly as good as Purple Rain, but for some reason never seems to get anywhere close to the same appreciation.

Phil Collins + Genesis + Peter Gabriel =11 picks. With the utmost objectivity....I have a hard time wrapping my head around this.
