Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 90.3/100, a mean average of 93.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.3/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.2.

With no albums in common with my own chart — although I always try to be as careful as possible ignoring that when I comment — this is a really good chart even without any notes about the albums thereon.

There are a few albums on this chart that remind me of Joe S. Harrington and David Keenan, two critics who in the early 2000s radically altered my perception of music — radically enough for me to recommend their lists to all general music fans. In fact, of 30 albums from before 1992, nine are by artists common to Harrington’s list — which I find a very high proportion. ‘Charmed Life’ by Half Japanese was #13 on Harrington’s list, and Half Japanese were also on Keenan’s, but are very rarely noted on Best Ever Albums. Beat Happening — although I was unimpressed upon a brief listen many years ago — Harrington said he would have included but for his ten-year rule (which only barely excluded them). Minor Threat were #5 on Harrington’s list, although I personally have never understood the hype behind hardcore punk. ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’ is another surprise from Keenan’s list.

Elsewhere in the chart, The Fugs — although I have little interest in comedy rock — the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and the Silver Apples are three other rarely seen artists here that I have read highly favourable reviews about.

A lot of music I'll have to check out. Keep on growing the chart.

I usually recommend some music in Spanish according to some things I see on the chart. I think you may like the album Fabulosos Calavera by the Argentinian band Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Also, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on Lila Downs work, she is an excellent singer from Mexico, check out her album Sandunga. And last, but not least, another musician from Argentina: Gustavo Cerati's Bocanada.

Saludos desde México. ¿
