Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 72.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 8.9.

I enjoyed this album, but every song kinda hits the same note doesn't it?
A sort of modern Smiths thing going on (the music, not the vocals). Good energy, lots of jangly guitars. Not bad
Jingly Jangly early 80’s guitar rock that sounds like early R.E.M, The Go-Betweens and Let’s Active and actually doesn’t sound anything like Sonic Youth unless they had a secret Jangle Pop phase I am not aware of
The music on this album is a real jam. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have proven to be rising experts in that classic indie/punk jam rock. Reminds me a lot of Sonic Youth. I have trouble getting into their vocal melodies and lyrics, which has held me back from really loving both this album and their former. But the arrangements with their guitar work is excellent and so exciting.
