Top 100 Greatest Music Albums by
Larcx13
I attempted to even out the decades between the 50s and the 2000s. Though there's some good music still in the 2010s and 2020s that could probably make my chart... I decided against adding anything on here.
This is a very subjective chart mixed in with very few objective choices (that I still enjoy). The more subjective the chart the better... -ish
I encourage anyone to branch away from English-speaking music... there's translators out there nowadays, use them. Brazil, Japan, Ukraine, Russia, Quebec, Germany, Mexico, France, Sweden, Norway, etc...
On a side note, prog-rock and art-rock is great and all, but there's equally great music funk, punk, blues, hip hop, jazz, alternative rock, etc...
25 of my current favorite artists in no particular order:
Okean Elzy
Steely Dan
Creedence Cleartwater Revival
Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jimi Hendrix
Bob Dylan
Teenage Fanclub
Les Cowboys Fringants
The Replacements
The Clash
Parliament-Funkadelic
Boombox
A Tribe Called Quest
Digable Planets
Cunninlynguists
The Roots
Miles Davis
John Coltrane

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 92.9/100, a mean average of 93.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 94.1/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 6.9.

Excellent chart man. Great picks
This is a GREAT chart...missing only one thing...some input from an obvious lover of all genres of popular music. The list is varied, from 60's to 2020's...and has some wonderful consistencies and even better variations. The best thing about the list is it has quite a bit in common with my own...but branches off into hip hop, funk and jazz. As an old fart I have a lot to learn about certain genres. Utilizing a list like this will help guide me to artists I may have discounted. My ONLY knock is there's no comments on the albums. You seem to be someone who has a lot of knowledge...so it's our loss to not be able to benefit from some observations.
cool chart

I've gotta get on that Stevie Ray Vaughan stuff ASAP. Great chart
Nice balance!
Awesome chart! Some great diversity here and it's got me keen to check out more of the funk and soul artists/albums you've listed here.

Cool Chart. You've really got it down. I could more or less disagree with your top ten, but I feel that every album has a place on your chart, even if I don't agree with its placing or inclusion.

Hey Larcx13,
Thanks for commenting on my chart. As stated in the chart comments, it "is an attempt to chart my taste in strictly rock 'n' roll music". I refrained from adding any classical music (my favorite all time genre) and jazz (because it would be full of it) thus leaving out some of the lesser unknown all-time-greats (in my book).
You've got a very diverse chart going here, covering many genres and some of the greatest music made in the past 70 years. Enjoy the site and the art of chart making! Because it is an art, trying to fit some of the greatest music ever made in 100 entries. :)

Seems like we have a lot in common when it comes to the jazz albums, which is awesome. I admittedly haven't dug super deep into 90s hip-hop, so I'm definitely going to take some recs from here. Haven't heard of CunninLynguists so I'll probably need to check that out too. Overall great chart

Thanks for the comment on my chart! I've heard some of the hip hop groups you've mentioned, but there's some solid recs too. In fact I got the sudden urge to relisten to God Loves Ugly after your comment and it's now in the top 15 of 00s. Almost forgot how much I loved that one. CunninLynguists has been on my shortlist for so long... Gonna bump it today. Solid chart, love the jazz, punk and hip hop choices. You can bet I'll try some of these albums!
