Top 40 Greatest Music Albums by GTRZ 
Just joined this website. And, although it says in the rules that as a newcomer, I don't have the points to submit a decade chart, I recently developed my first chart and, as it turns out, it's a decade chart==Best Rock Albums of the 70s. Am hoping I can add the chart. Would enjoy getting feedback on it. I spent months working on it (from Apr 12 until Jun 12).
The chart represents the best rock albums of the 70s from the perspective of 'how enjoyable is the album, overall, i.e., considering every song on every album reviewed'. In developing the chart, 190 of the top 70s albums was evaluated. Every song on every album was rated on a scale from 1-10 (10 being a great, great song). After grading all of the albums, song for song, I added up the scores for each album and divided by the number of songs on the album. Then, I sorted the list from highest score to lowest. Also, of not, I only considered studio labums, i,e,m not live albums, or else Irish Tour '74 and Kiss Alive would have been in my top list.
The fun thing about it is that I didn't know how the list would turn out until I was done!

This album was a breath of fresh air as the late 70s was in dire need of a shot in the arm, from a rock and roll standpoint. Yeah, the punk rock scene was alive and kicking, but some good straight ahead rock was needed and Van Halen delivered. Favorite song, to some folks' surprise, is I'm On Fire. Love that song. Raw and powerful.

Sadly, had never heard of The Dead Boys until about a year ago while I was researching 70s rock albums for artists and albums I hadn't been too familiar with. This album ROCKS!. The last track is absolutely amazing. Raw powerful rock and roll, although I suppose the Boys were considered punk rock at the time. Regardless, great, great rock album. Every song is excellent.

The first four songs on this album rate as a 10 out of 10. Great great songs. The songs afterward tail off a bit leading to a lower album score.

This album and Nine Lives are REO's best. In '78-'79, REO was at the top of its game. Great song writing. Richrath's guitar playing is amazing.
