Easiest record to listen to. It's like GoodFellas - it's so incredibly easy to enjoy and is so accessible that you almost don't realize how much of a work of absolute art the entire project is. My favorite rock record of my favorite decade for rock.

Even for U2 this a groundbreaking, exhilarating rush. The album that not only extended and revitalized their career but also the single most cohesive and unified record they have ever released, in any decade.

Great debut. Front to back consistency. If you think Weezer sucks, try this one out - they only started sucking later.

Yes, Billy. We hear you. You're the best. But.. damnit, Billy. You WERE the best. You had it all and you lost it. But those two albums you made in the early and mid 90's were just SO good. What ever happened, old friend? "Geek U.S.A." being absent from any kind of Guitar Hero game should be a federal crime.

In a decade filled with stellar debuts this still stands out. It's so fucking COOL and ambitious. You can hear utter, transcendental talent overflowing from the vocals and the instrumentation. In a decade that was *sigh* ALSO full of "what if"s, Jeff Buckley might be the most tragic in terms of potential gone to waste. If that saddens you, do yourself a favor - make this the album you cry to.

Yep. This album. Amazing. Timeless. We both love it, don't we? Next.

The number of seminal 80's groups that peaked in the early 90's is unreasonably massive - and this is unreasonably the most seductive and polished work by a band that stuck to their synths and were able to remain relevant in a decade dictated by grunge and grit (which they would eventually conform to). Both the end and the apex of their best era of music, Violator isn't just a classic - it's the record that truly sent the band's career over the top into greatness.

Only mid-90's Billy Corgan could have accomplished this - a cohesive, attractive buffet of huge singles, bigger album tracks and some of the best, most ominous and disturbed riffs you've ever heard. "Bodies" is a corrosive and (beautifully) ugly rocker; "1979" is a classic among classics; "Zero" is so full of rage that the pivotal line about God being basically worthless is one of the most polite aspects of the production; "Porcelina Of The Vast Oceans" nearly redefines epic rock songwriting. I can't keep using semi-colons all day. Just know - this album fucking slaps.

This isn't even a top three debut in its own decade - that's how stacked this era was with music. We didn't deserve the 90's. We probably deserved the 80's, though.
