Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 70.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

I'm a fan of most of their other work, but this album was very unimpressive. There's not much noteworthy on the album - the only track I'd pick out is What Happens To People.

If anyone\'s feeling slightly disappointed by this album then there\'s a great live performance that they do at the Best Kept Secret festival https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2EuD9C8VbA

Another good Deerhunter album in a very consistent discography. Starts off with some great songs including "Death in Midsummer" and "Element" which have great baroque pop orchestral elements, a newish sound for the group that works very well. There are a few duds in the form of failed experiments on the second half including "Detournement" and "Tarnung"; the latter is also Lockett Pundt's contribution to the album breaking the tradition of him writing only one or two songs per record but those being the best. That said, Cox's many inventive songs make up for this including "What Happens to People", "Futurism" and "Plains" all bearing the classic hallmarks of Deerhunter's inventive approach to music.

To the poster who says the album doesn’t really get going until the back half I implore you to listen to the first two tracks a bit more. They are fantastic. Even the third track has its place, reminding me a little of an instrumental piece that would fit seamlessly onto an Air album. I get the feeling that this will go close to my album of the year even this early into 2019.

This is the album to ease yourself into the DH journey. It is definitely a lighter, psych-pop offering but catchy enough to draw you in. No one’s Sleeping is a cracking track and does, in fact, have a semblance of Desire Lines-style guitar meander.

Always hoping for a new DH album full of "Desire Lines". Unfortunately not this time. It's good, not special and definetely not as good as Halcyon Digest, but then I think that's hard to match...

Finally , finally ! A D.H album that has clicked with me . Okay so it's 2019 but hey better late than never

This album had me the very time I heard "Death in Midsummer" and is an early contender for song of the year (BTW check out the video to this track on YouTube it's very cool) . Some seriously good tracks here in "No Ones Sleeping" , the instrumental "Greenpoint Gothic" and closer "Nocturne"

My only negative is the rather odd "Detournement" with it's annoying robot voice saying hello to various country's . For mine it's a strange inclusion that breaks the flow of the album situated exactly half way

Guess I need to go back and revisit 2010's ' Halcyon Digest' now the D.H penny has dropped ....

I really enjoyed "Halcyon Digest" I thought this album was interesting and original. But Deerhunter's new album, "Why Has not Everything Already Disappeared?", Did not produce the same effect at all. Deerhunter has become a basic and uninspiring Indie Rock band.
