"Alt.rock’s greatest singer-songwriter by a country mile! Although commonly thought of as just a honey tongued heartthrob with good hair, Dando crafted the catchiest, stick-in-your-head codeine-addled pop of the alt.rock era. His charm (and perhaps his curse) was how he made it sound effortless. H..."  [+]  Reply

"Heartattack and vine, is half, a dirty rock album, and half, beautiful piano ballads. Waits growls and hollers on the opening title track, a great bluesy cut. Waits also goes for that gritty rock sound on the excellent, downtown, the percussion heavy, til' the money runs out, and the penultimate ..."  [+]  Reply

"This is a really unfair way to rate an album, but I'm going to do it anyway. Pom Pom was my first introduction to Ariel Pink, and one of the main things I liked about that album was how crisp the production sounded and how it brought out all the intricacies of the songs. On this album however, th..."  [+]  Reply

"Ahhhhhh what an opening track!! And still this album doesn't slow down as it goes! One of the most influential albums to the thrash metal genre and all of rock n roll for that matter (Since Motorhead ARE rock n roll) ;)"  Reply

"There are a ton of really cool ideas and textures here, but boy, for a record that's less than 40 minutes long, it's strangely exhausting. I've listened to it three times by this point, and I still can't say I totally understand what's going on here."  Reply

"The debut album from The Banshees is one of the great late seventies British releases. A stunning fusion of psychedelic rock, goth, new wave punk, and, pop art, the scream, is not just a great first record, it's also probably the Banshees best LP. Jigsaw feeling, mirage, and, switch, are all exce..."  [+]  Reply

"Looking to explore deep into The Decemberist’ back catalogue I went into this album completely blind and sweet mother of god! . A Rock Opera! . A god damn Rock Opera. To say I was surprised would be an understatement. The Decemberist’ AMERICAN IDIOT. The verdict? . Yeah it’s pretty good. I agree ..."  [+]  Reply

"Best ZZ top album. Great southern boogie rock'n'roll. Tres hombres, is superb sweaty fun featuring great tracks in, Jesus just left Chicago, beer drinkers and hell raisers, and, hot, blue and righteous. If you want some good time rock with feel, try this. Cool stuff."  Reply

"Perhaps the least well regarded of their first four albums, I have a soft spot for Porcupine, and I certainly like it more than Heaven Up Here. Plus, ‘The Cutter’ was the best song on their first three albums, that is a belief that I will hold until I die."  Reply
