The forgotten R.E.M album
9 of the 15 tracks are credited to the band and is very much a deep cut for the R.E.M competition-est
The title track "Man On The Moon" obviously appeared on their mega hit 'Automatic For The People' way back in 1992 , 'Up' was released in 1998 , this Soundtrack in 1999 then 'Reveal' was another 2 years away in 2001 ( so this album came between 'Up' and 'Reveal')
The outlier track is without a doubt "The Great Beyond" which was written specifically for this project and would be included on two R.E.M. compilations: 'In Time - The Best of R.E.M. 1988-2003' and 'Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982–2011' implying a staple in the R.E.M cannon
Of particular note is the Stipe/Carey duet "This Friendly World" where Stipe adopts a child like persona which is a million miles removed from the fire and brimstone on 1987's 'Document'
R.E.M's career would slowly descend from this point on and in some ways this would be their last fully engaging album

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
