Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 71.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

Great album, one of the best of the year so far.
Possibly the most interesting record I have heard in 2020 so far. Does it want to be radiohead? does it want to be a regular pop album? does it want to be simon & garfunkel? who knows? A genuinely fascinating listen and I will be listening again.
It's not a bad album and the singles are good. It's a nice non-threatening listen that showcases Ed's stylistic contributions to Radiohead. It's no George Harrison but it's a nice collection of songs. Radiohead fans are going to enjoy it. It sounds exactly what you'd expect from an Ed O'Brien solo album.
The singles are great — but these deep cuts? Lovely instrumentation paired with mediocre to borderline pretentious lyrics. Pretty bummed by this.
And my score may not reflect that, but that's just how good Shangri-la, Brasil and Olympik are. They're able to elevate otherwise mediocre songs.
