Wow what a drop off. This band sounds like your mom and pop's band now. It is all just so calm and bland.
Adolescents is the only decent rocker here. The title track does some cool vocal gymnastics keeping it interesting.
I do love the ballad Friends and Lovers.
But that is it. The rest of this is so tame.
The Original and Tomorrows Food are indefensibly bad.
Everything else here sounds like background music for a business event at a hotel conference room.
Gone is the punchy energy and raw power. Gone is the funk and the groove. Enter piano ballads and mid tempo tappers.
This band used to have a reputation of limitless creativity. This album proves they are out of ideas.

A friend of mine described this album as Incubus on tranquilizers. I can understand the sentiment, though I don’t think it’s THAT bad. It’s a good album I think, but it’s a bit different. It is less heavy, a bit slower than the Incubus we’re used to. It sounds more like Brandon Boyd’s solo album he released last year rather than a typical Incubus album. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s a good album, not great, but good and definitely worth giving a chance.
The entire record flows beautifully like clear water.

Softer than a fresh load of laundry after about a half bottle of Snuggle. On a scale of 1 Hootie to 5 Hooties, this rates in at about 4.5 Hooties. Seriously, fuck this album.
