A fairly good recording of wild game fowl calls (to attract geese, turkeys, quails, and ducks, and obviously crows since crows are sometimes used in videogames as non-playing characters), as well as some explanation of the calling technique recorded by the callers themselves. The sound quality isn't exactly pristine by modern standards, as it was all done with mid-20th Century technology, but you can make out most of the explanatory material if you listen to it on ultra-high-end audio gear in an acoustically-optimized room. Many of the callers are actually representatives of companies that sold, and in some cases still sell, "sporting goods" (guns and ammo mostly, as well as calling devices) used to hunt game fowl - "Herter's Inc." was a small retail chain in the US upper midwest, "J.C. Higgins" was a brand sold by Sears Roebuck, and Philip S. Olt was of course the inventor of the D-2 Duck Call device that's still used to call ducks by many, if not most, wild-duck hunters today (according to the internet, at least). And the collection simply wouldn't be complete without 1950s-era perennial turkey-calling champion M.L. Lynch, inventor of the Lynch Fool Proof Turkey Box Call, which you can still buy on Amazon and other major retailers at this very moment IF YOU HURRY. So, if you don't mind hearing a significant amount of spoken commercial promotional material on your game-fowl-calls records, this could just be the U​.​S. Game Fowl Culture Disc compilation album you've been waiting for! Sure, maybe it isn't "music" per se, but it's still a whole heckuva lot more enjoyable than "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea," and honestly, I'd probably rather listen to this than game-fowl calls produced by digital sampling or AI-generated sound-creation technology.
