I get strong Cocteau Twins vibes from this. Just cause I'm pretty convinced homie is singing complete gibberish.

//Midwest Emo// Math Rock//

Key Tracks : Awakening at Daybreak, Return of Spring, Summer End

It gets hot here. Today is the first hot day of the year. It all brings me back to last year. It brings me all back to the sobbing and the grief and just trying to make it through. It gets cold here too. Sometimes, in the winter, I wake up with my eyelids frozen over like glass. This morning, I woke up to laughing. I’m glad. Today I woke up with a warm feeling in my chest.

At the time of writing this, it’s been less than ten minutes since I finished my first ever listen to In This World and it has already done so much. This album is much like Masked Dancers, the other midwest emo album I wrote about, but where Masked Dancers and many other midwest emo albums are melancholic and lonely and serious, this album is nothing of the sort. It’s fun. This album sounds like spring and summer. While still technically impressive, it isn’t discordant or dissonant. In This World is populated by warm riffs, great drumming, and some of the dreamiest falsettos of any album ever. In fact, Kenta Oshikiri may just give the most beautiful and technically great vocals of any emo album ever. Where there is usually heartbreaking screaming, voice cracks and cries for help, this album is filled with expressions of love for the world and the day. In a world of darkness and depression, this album pushes that aside.

The heat is hard. It hurts, it is oppressive, it can kill. It reminds me of days gone past. Bad days. Bad months, even. It also reminds me of the days inbetween. Of the days that I basked in the sun, explored the town, hung with friends. Days that hug and made me warm inside.
