Here i will list my favorite artists of all-time. This list takes into account an artist's entire catalogue, giving highest marks to quality across quantity. (I will list my fav album by each artist.) This list is subjective not really based on BEA-entered data.
Runners up: the minus 5, fun/the_format, iron & wine, of montreal, sheryl crow, gram parsons, the bee gees. You can probably find a bunch of these artists on the continuation of this chart, "all-time fav artists (subj), #101-200".
03/13/2018 UPDATE: I need to revisit this (and the continuation) chart as it hasn't been updated since after 2013. However, if there are any changes, they'd most likely be subtle.

They haven't been around long, but their 5 album indie emo-esque rock discography is near-perfect. They even threw out a sizable curve employing James Murphy for their last album, replete with fleet beats. Recently crowned my "current favorite artist" (perhaps i'll create another list?), Arcade fire hasn't yet stumbled, and they very well could have after the post-grammy pressure.

This is what pure indie pop/rock sounds like. The combination of A.C. Newman, Neko Case and Dan Bejar put out some of the catchiest music on their first 3 albums. Some songs carry 2-to-3 choruses for non-stop sing-along fun. It's crazy how great of a songwriter A.C.

It took me a long time to warm up to Neil Young but, through his CSNY work and what i heard in the 90s, i eventually travelled back to a 70s output of riches. Combing his solo work with his time performing with Crazy Horse, Neil Young is one of the all-time best folk/rock artists.

It must've been fate that brought me to Tegan and Sara that one cold Denver night. I arrived at the Paramount downtown to catch a Ryan Adams performance and left wanting to pick up the latest Tegan and Sara disc, "if it was you". Since then, I've followed them every album along the way, all strong efforts, including the unlikely dance-pop hit "heartthrob".

One of many artists that have received some co-writing and production help from robert "mutt" lange, bryan adams rode his raw pop/rock sound from the 80s into solid adult contemporary mode once he hit the 90s. "Reckless" is a wall-to-wall hit machine.

Nice concept. There's a humorous typo on Nine Inch Nails. I think you mean self-flagellating, not self-flatulating.
