Top 100 Greatest Music Albums ratings
Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AVwhere:

AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 85.0/100, a mean average of 83.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 84.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 10.8.

Definitely a cool chart, populated heavily with the master of cool, Lou Reed. I like the out-of-the-ordinary choices like Air, Husker Du, Antony & the Johnsons and Bill Hicks.

Lots of nice picks in this chart....good work although I must disagree with your comment about The Smiths albums being uneven ;-)

Excellent list! Nice to see some less familiar picks among obvious classics such as Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and London Calling.

I love the diversity here. I can't wait to see this grow - 16 of these 40 are also on my chart so this seems like a good place to get recs. Love the inclusion of Radiator and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart.
