Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

In my top 100 chart, I am restricting myself to one album per artist for mere space reasons. For many of the artists included, particularly those in the first half, I would love to include numerous albums. But that would mean excluding other artists entirely, which felt more homogenized and bland than all the "vitamins" I'd need on my desert island.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Interesting chart with a few surprising albums and artists in common. Some other less familiar records here I never managed to grasp myself.
On the whole, I do like this chart. It has a lot of personal albums and even if the post-“Republican Revolution” “alternative” music can feel a little grating to read, there is still a lot to like about it.

Loved the personality in your chart and so many NZ artists - EXCELLENT! We only have 3 albums in common - but I like it when that happens ~ it means I can explore what turns other album enthusiasts on.

It's awesome to see Penthouse by Luna and Mars Audiac Quintet by stereolab. I'm glad somebody knows a great album when they hear it. And not the usual choices.
