Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

We have 14 in common but there are a lot more albums I have and like a lot which didn't quite make it. Surprised and happy to see "Casualties of Retail" by Enter the Haggis in there. This album is very new to me and I haven't quite worked out how much I like it yet. But its looking good for a top 100 spot some time in the future. Overall very nice chart.

I also have 24 albums in common and even your top ten is markedly similar. I also disagree with some of your tastes... but respectfully. On the whole, a lot of very solid picks.

wow, 24 albums in common. I have this thing against david bowie, which I know I should be shot for, but I can't stand the guy. Other than that, love it.
