A superbly constructed album of melodic ballads and mid-tempo songs, finely arranged (with reminiscences of George Harrison in the harmonized slide-guitar parts), exquisitely sung, à la Karen Carpenter at times. Natalie Mering- her real name- is also a regular Drugdealer collaborator.

I really appreciate the love your chart gives to two albums in particular: first, Laura Marling's Once I Was an Eagle, which I think must be one of the most devastatingly beautiful breakup albums I've ever heard (I think now I have nightmares about someone writing a breakup album that brutal about me--ugh). Great vocals, underrated guitar playing, pounding percussion--great stuff. And then there's Courtney Barnett's Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, which in some ways is the opposite: just plain great songwriting, and even though Barnett isn't one of her generation's great vocalists, her vocals somehow suit her laconic lyrical style perfectly. Great choices, among many of your other selections. Excellent chart overall.
