Top 100 Music Albums of the 1990s
by davidhuret

This is a top 100 of studio albums (+ a collection of singles' b-sides, a live-at-the BBC collection of recordings and a couple of oddities) I enjoy; no other criteria.

Unlike the majority of critics, I don't think Oasis were a spent force after their first two albums. They leave behind an excellent, often inspired, if admittedly traditionalist, body of work. That said, their debut was definitely special. No maybe about it. [First added to this chart: 12/12/2012]

Old Bob is born! Comparisons to his 1960s classics become irrelevant and pointless. These are songs his younger self couldn't have written. Clearly, Dylan's elder years were going to be captivating. [First added to this chart: 12/12/2012]

I discovered the band with this album, and they immediately became big favorites of mine. Subtle, highly melodic, cleverly articulate music, mixing humour with melancholy, like a more acoustic-orientated Saint Etienne (another act I'm very fond of): a masterclass in subtlety. A great, under-rated pop band's possible peak. Beautiful. [First added to this chart: 12/12/2012]

Solid chart.
Love the inclusion of Wrong-Eyed Jesus.
You are clearly a Bowie fan - I like how you particularly rate Buddha and Outside from this era.
You also like your REM, but I rate New Adventures much more highly than Up or Monster.
Nice to see Elvis' All This Useless Beauty included at the end - one of my personal favourites.
