I discovered the band with this album, and they immediately became big favorites of mine. Subtle, highly melodic, cleverly articulate music, mixing humour with melancholy, like a more acoustic-orientated Saint Etienne (another act I'm very fond of): a masterclass in subtlety. Solid chart.
Love the inclusion of Wrong-Eyed Jesus.
You are clearly a Bowie fan - I like how you particularly rate Buddha and Outside from this era.
You also like your REM, but I rate New Adventures much more highly than Up or Monster.
Nice to see Elvis' All This Useless Beauty included at the end - one of my personal favourites.
