Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

I really like your selections and how you tend to pick the lesser received albums over the obvious. Also very good mentions for newer bands who deserve to be represented for their accomplishments

Only 5 albums in common (although I am only allowed 40 at the moment) but I really like this chart. Never heard of some of the artists never mind the albums and it is dominated by US artists, while mine is dominated by Brits, but still feel a bond to this chart. Well done, great.

It's a very nice chart, not torturing people with too much Radiohead or someone, balanced and when it gets descriptions it will be even better
