"José González is a Swedish singer-songwriter who, like Nick Drake, became known for his guitar and classical vocals. On this relaxing album, José González focuses on themes such as perseverance. The album is really inspired by Nick Drake, the singer alone with his guitar forcing a personality. Th..."  [+]  Reply

"Much more straight forward pop structures but it still works. Would I Lie to You, There Must Be An Angel (Playing with My Heart), Sisters are Doing it For Themselves are among their best and classic work. The rest of the album brings much to the table as well."  Reply

"I don't get all the really low ratings for this album. Seems like quite a likeable album to me. Not great, but if you liked it in the 90s, still makes for interesting listen every couple years or so. That voice is somewhat of a novelty. Most songs are catchy even if you can't quite remember them ..."  [+]  Reply

"They were invited to the White House, under the guise that they would not play one particular song. They played 'American Woman' anyway, and were kicked out. How badass is that?"  Reply

"Another brilliant Frank Zappa when he was at his solo best. The torture never stops, is one of his all time great tracks and, wind up workin' in a gas station, is a great opener. One of Zappa's ten essential albums."  Reply

"Brought me back to hip-hop after I grew tired of the lack of creativity in the late 90s. It's got old-school sampling, great flow, and original beats. Better yet, no cliched lyrics. A triumph of hip-hop that they've been yet to beat."  Reply

"Evoking dream-pop atmospherics and an undercurrent of psychedelia, Holter expands upon the aesthetics of Julianna Barwick's 'The Magic Place', to create an album that in many ways is not unlike a postmodern amalgam of 'Desertshore', 'Lorca' and 'Rock Bottom'. The sound of piano and harpsicord all..."  [+]  Reply

"Bashung's best with "L'Imprudence". An absolutely wonderful collection of melancholy pop, arranged and produced in stylish manner (Bashung had listened to Portishead a lot and hired Utley for guitar works).
