"These guys have very good taste in the music they stole, err, I mean sampled. e.g., The Band on "Check the Technique". I also liked the rhythm guitar, piano, scratching, and nice beats. And classic rhyme rapping, I like the relaxed delivery. Music to chill by, terrific album all the way through a..."  [+]  Reply

""Un Canto Por México, Vol. 1" is a powerhouse of everything Mexican folk has to offer. Natalia Lafourcade's voice is rich and sweet, she uses it to full capacity on every track. The backing vocals and instrumentals are dripping with energy. In particular, the horns are pleasure on each song. "Un ..."  [+]  Reply

"This isn’t a terrible album, but it’s not terribly good either It all just feels and sounds so incredibly safe with sparking clean production you could eat your lunch off. Where are the unfiltered guitars? Where are the sicko lyrics about murder , incest and mayhem? Slicing up eye balls? More lik..."  [+]  Reply

"An absolute atomic bomb of a debut, Street Worms represents Viagra Boys in their purest form, before they started mixing genres and more overtly political messages into their music (Welfare Jazz and Cave World respectively). There's nothing wrong with any of that, of course, if the songs are exce..."  [+]  Reply

"I've heard this album described as "The kind of music Prince would have made if he was an introvert." Honestly I can't think of a better description. This album draws heavily from 80's and early 90's R&B, hip-hop, and pop, along with some other surprises, in order to create a beautiful sonic back..."  [+]  Reply

"If all teeny-pop was this sharp and sassy, i'd listen to the radio more. I'm not sure if she has any say in the music composition, but that, her lyrics, delivery and attitude trump contemporaries like Annie (not to mention the teeny pop on radio / video channels). My rating reflects the later uk/..."  [+]  Reply

"'Mirror Man' is the sound of The Magic Band at it's most deliberately shambolic and free. Long 'live' rambling jams extend the notion of the Blues standard to its limits. Structurally, the Captain game-plays in the Delta tradition but adds theatrically satirical and infantile elements over a crea..."  [+]  Reply

"A good album. Pete Doherty is a great songwriter and this is an album displaying his talent. The only problem I really have with this album is that it is too long. Cutting a few songs from the album I think would make it a better album."  Reply

"Funky as hell. Gil is well known for his lyricism but for me his vocals on here are incredible too. Ranks alongside the stuff they were probably taking influence from like herbie and stevie. One of those that ticks all the boxes that you wonder why you never listened to the bugger before."  Reply
