"Aimee Manns latest album, "Mental Illness" is her hitherto most subdued; almost unplugged acoustic. There is a marked change compared to its predecessor "Charmer" from 2012 and in particular in relation to the album released as "The Both" with Ted Leo, which could be labelled as power-pop ala Foo..."  [+]  Reply

"I bought this on tape (a really state of the art playing medium at the time!) and played it over and over back in the late eighties, great for driving to. Latterly I have got the CD and more recently what I really wanted, the vinyl. This is a blisteringly good album with some fantastic lead guita..."  [+]  Reply

"It's not bad. It's a really interesting album with some fantastic drum beats and unique basslines, but overall it seemed like there were more okay songs than great songs. It's not as good as TNT, but it's still a substantial effort. Best tracks: Eros, Blackjack, Speakeasy Worst tracks: Firefly, E..."  [+]  Reply

"Thankfully sounds a lot more like James Blake from Overgrown than say...The Weeknd. The ending of Precious Love is pretty corny, but I think Face Again and Repeat Pleasure make up for it. I enjoyed this overall, but I don't know when I'll come back to it."  Reply

"Taking cues from the Durruti Column and Wire, Temple IV see's Montgomery's guitar-only instrumentals evoke the mystery and beauty of South America to sublime effect. Like Flying Saucer Attack Roy Montgomery was one of the very first post-rock artists."  Reply

"Wow! I wish I had known about this back in 2007. I would of been one of my favourite ever back then. 'Giving up On Love' sounds much more angry than all those bands that think screaming the vocals makes them angry. The album holds up well through out and is really enjoyable with song after song. ..."  [+]  Reply
