Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 8% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.0/100, a mean average of 75.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.4.

It's Krautrock, sure, but it's not Motorik tuneful Krautrock. This has as much to do with the avant-garde and academic electronic music from the 60s, like Tod Dockstader, Morton Subotnick, Stockhausen, as it does with anything rock. But it's more listenable than most of that sort of stuff; it's really quite pleasant and accessible if you're down for this sort of thing and don't get restless. On its own merits, I'd give it a 90 at least. I think it's an incredible achievement to get these kinds of sounds in 1971, and so nicely recorded also. As to how it intersects with my tastes, a 75; I do get a bit restless. So, the rating is a compromise, as I am an occasional tourist in this sort of tuneless, experimental type of area.
