Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.4/100, a mean average of 71.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

Mr Albarn takes a well earned break from Blur, Gorrilaz and any number of collaborations to give us a solo album that’s part concept album, part break up album and part confessional. It’s definitely got that Tranquility Base and Casino rock star sitting in his own filth kinda vibe and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. “Mr Tambo” (apparently referencing an Elephant) is initially fun (mainly because it gives the listener a respite from the sludge) but becomes twee and really annoying really fast and props to “Photographs (You are taking now)” for being a genuinely good track and clearly the best thing here

However

At the end of the day after multiple spins I can’t help but wonder if ‘Everyday Robots’ is simply another self indulgent snooze feast from an artist and record company who do simply because they can. Need proof ? Look at the album cover with a smirking Damo , but I’m here to tell you folks the jokes on us

It's pleasant, but nothing special. My highlights are Mr Tembo, Lonely Press Play and Everyday Robots.

Mai avrei pensato che un disco solista del cantante dei Blur potesse piacermi fino a questo punto, ma in effetti non ricordo un disco dei Blur così intenso, così ben curato ed allo stesso tempo non appesantito da soluzioni troppo ricercate.

I think it's good, not brilliant nor a masterpice, just good. Some good and some ok tracks.

The highlight of the album, "Mr Tembo", is the only source of joy and is the saving grace of this lifeless and depressing album. Albarn tackles loneliness in the world of 21st century technology, but his viewpoint sounds a bit stale and regressive.

People can still play video games and watch TV all day whilst displaying genuine emotions, which is a simple point that Albarn doesn't appear to understand. He also completely ignores all the good that technology, such as the internet, has done. Furthermore, artists like Radiohead have tackled similar themes in albums like "OK Computer" with far more nuance and depth over 15 years before "Everyday Robots" was released.

It has its good moments and is consistently pretty, but is ultimately too empty and bleak to even bother visiting again.

I take back what I said before - now I think this is a lovely album. But for sure it's apparent that it's not even close to on the same level as any Blur or Gorillaz album (potentially better than Leisure or The Fall though). You can definitely tell the instrumentation and song writing isn't what you'd expect because, let's be honest, Damon does better when he's around musicians he's known for a long time.
