The 80´s were the most importend decade for my musical development.
I entered the 80`s as a 7 year old and left them beeing 17.
So I decided to construct these decade chart as a musical biographie from now to then.
I think it´s Ok to rate the music that I discovered recently (often via BEA) higher than the music of my childhood.
All albums I discoverd after the 80`s are ratetd "normally" starting with the best.
I added the (approximate) date of my first contact with the certain album.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Quite a lot of Albums unknown to me. But judging by the ones I do know, this is excellent. Hm, there is Mr Cohen included. Well, anyway...

Original selection of 80s music. Love the song Caruso by Lucio Dalla from his album that's one of my favourite songs of all time - wish it was more well known in the UK. He sings it so well. Good to see Falco too he was a crazy genius alright. May they both rest in peace.

A really quirky and surprising eighties chart. Disintegration and Freedom are terrific albums, and it's gratifying to see Billy Bragg on here, too. I have not heard Wir Drehen Die Erde, but you've stoked my curiosity!

Really truly love this chart - a fabulous and slightly crazy mix of 80s gems! It is nice to find someone else on the site who were musically formed by the bad hair decade! :)
