Top 36 Greatest Music Albums

First i would like to say that this is not my list of what i think the "best" albums of all time are, rather it is simply a list of my favorite albums. These are the albums that i would choose to bring to a deserted island. Also this list is not in perfect order from best to worst, i put them in randomly and then had to move them around. Again, this is simply my opinion, many of these are probably on here mainly through nostalgia or because the lyrics said something to me. I own many more albums that would probably be considered "better" but either i haven't listened to them enough or i didn't listen to them at the right time. i enjoy searching through this website to find many more albums to hopefully add to this list in the future. If anyone has any suggestions for other artist i might enjoy please let me know, i am always open to suggestions, thats why i came to this site in the first place. Finally i would like to note that i only really started building up my music collection a few years ago which is why this list is so heavy on recent albums.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Okay, you are very indie/alternative, from what I see, so: Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Raconteurs, White Stripes, Wilco, Passion Pit, Yeasayer, TV on the Radio, Arcade Fire, some modern artists for you there..
