Ostensibly an imagining of what music could be in alien and mystical worlds, but also close to the sound of dreams and nightmares, a tap into the hidden parts of the psyche. Drawing from the spiritually charged rhythms of the Senoi people of Malaysia, it allows that spiritual presence to flow into and permeate the entire record. Through rasping winds and pottery percussion, it suggests something of culture and community. And through the glitchy minimalism of itching wavelengths bug-scuttling and meshing in thicker and thicker patterns, it appears to scratch at something primordial and deep within the trenches of the brain.

Distinguished from other dub releases of this prolific period by its central gimmick of placing you on a monster-themed roller-coaster through Caribbean bogs. It carries a tingling excitement for the process of making music, and each song is awash with hallucinatory studio FX and opened by cheeky boogeyman laughs, with smooth horns lighting up the foggy swamp miasmas. The end result being a playful, psychedelic romp that calls for a permanent spot in the Halloween season rotation.

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

An admirable chart - nice, fairly even spread across the decades; great diversity across nations (although a bit disappointed to see that Australia/New Zealand have been overlooked again). It was also nice to read that your family introduced you to Bob Dylan ~ and now you have 2 Dylan albums in your top 100.
