Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Sigur Rós + Coldplay + Beatles + Porcupine Tree = one of the best charts on the site. Love your taste in music.
Also good to see someone else who appreciates Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust. Definitely one of Sigur Rós' best, and forgotten about far too often.

Even though there's a bunch of bands with lots of albums, this is a really nice chart. There's some stuff I haven't really gotten into, like Porcupine Tree and Explosions in the Sky, but I do really like this chart overall. I'm actually a bit surprised not to see more Muse here, since it seems like you really enjoy a lot of similar bands (or bands that Muse fans also like). Good job overall!
