Folk Pop // Folk Rock

A monolith in the realm of all music ever made. Timeless melodies, true and heartfelt music, magical production.

Favorite Tracks: Overs, Old Friends, Punky's Dilemma

How long can I delay?
We're just a habit, like saccharin
And I'm habitually feelin' kinda blue
But each time I try on the thought of leavin' you
I stop

Favorite Tracks: Stand! Somebody's Watching You, Everyday People, You Can Make It If You Try

Stand
In the end you'll still be you
One that's done all the things you set out to do
Stand
There's a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you're going anywhere (ooh)
Stand
For the things you know are right
It's the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
Stand
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal

Folk Rock // Noise

Like a lot of other albums on this list, this album came at a time of major shifts in the band. This album is a perfect mix of the experimental, abrasive garage rock that came before and the accessible pop rock that came after. It has some of Reed's most emotional songwriting. It is essential.

Candy says (Candy says)
I've come to hate my body
And all that it requires in this world
Candy says (Candy says)
I'd like to know completely
What others so discretely talk about
I'm gonna watch the blue birds fly
Over my shoulder
I'm gonna watch them pass me by
Maybe when I'm older
What do you think I'd see
If I could walk away from me

Hard Bop

The best chill jazz album ever. After his return from hermitage, Rollins put out one of the jazz best albums ever. It’s great. God Bless the Child is great.

Spiritual Jazz

Mother Nature seems to love us so
When she smiles there is a subtle glow
And with tears of joy, the happiness flows
I see red and orange and purple
Yellow and blue and green
People say that life is misery
But in him there is no mystery
So he sends to us his rainbow of love
Red and orange and purple
Yellow and blue and green

Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 1% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.7/100, a mean average of 93.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 93.6/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.1.

Ok now I have to go and listen to ‘Those who throw objects at the crocodiles will be asked to retrieve them’ as it sounds very intriguing :) Nice chart - eclectic and fun. I like it a lot x

Bumped up the rating, your chart definitely isn't as "60s/70s-centric" as it was when I first rated this.

Overall amazing list, I have listened to the Philippine albums and really enjoyed them. Lots in common and overall great diversity in genres. Lots to love in this list and lots to add to my wishlist as well!

There is a lot here I have not listened to, but huge kudos for having Bookends at number 1. I have it at 2!

This must be about the best chart I have ever seen. Its composition is like nothing else I have seen on this site or anywhere else, has some quite good notes (though I will say that they could do more than discuss the best tracks and look at each album’s wider importance) and many very unsual albums. The song list, too, is very good.

¡Dios mío! la mitad de los álbumes que están aquí no los conozco. Me diste algo para escuchar, grandioso chart.
Tu lista de canciones también es muy interesante.

fantastic chart.
It starts nicely with some classics, but it shows some pretty unknown and interesting picks besides the mainstream.

Nice chart, as far as 60s/70s-centric charts go, this one is right up my alley. Personally my chart is more slanted towards the recent decades, but this is great.

I'll have to listen to the Philippine albums here
