My brother bought this on pre-recorded cassette shortly after it was released, so that he could play it on one of those old portable Radio Shack cassette players during a long family-vacation car trip. At the time, cassettes were a brand-new thing, practically the essence of modernity, but the tinny speaker in the cassette player nevertheless sounded awful. So, despite all the technical effort that went into recording this, I still think of it as a "lo-fi" album. Interestingly, XTC's album "Go 2" was also recorded in Abbey Road Studios... I thought I'd just sort of throw that in there. [First added to this chart: 04/25/2023]

Soundtrack
This is actually a film soundtrack, and only the first side contains actual Beatles songs, whereas the second side consists of an orchestral score by the producer, George Martin. Oddly enough, I think I've always preferred the second side, even back when I was a much more enthusiastic Beatles fan than I am now. [First added to this chart: 04/25/2023]
