Ultimately, what you see is what you get. Folkesange is pagan nordic folk, the cover art resembles that precisely, and that's exactly what's going on. With the exception of the wonderful outro Vinter, Myrkur does not give a unique spin on the traditional rootsy sound, everything on this record is pretty uninventive. There's classic danish children's songs with darker tales than those presented on Folkesange. Record's okay otherwise, she sings and plays nicely but so do many others.
