Wilco emerged from the alt-country genre on this one. The styles are all over the place but it all fits perfectly. "Shot In The Arm" is a powerful listen.

It is criminal that this band is known as the "Roll To Me" guys. This album contains masterful songwriting. Give "Surface Of The Moon" a listen and it becomes clear how good this band was.

Anyone who loves Pet Sounds should take a course in Jellyfish. This short-lived San Francisco band made two of the best power pop albums ever. Check out "New Mistake" and "Sebrina, Paste and Plato".

A double album that is able to avoid from straying off course. Extremely deep songwriting. A mix of straight up rock and foreshadowing of the brilliance that was to come from future Wilco albums.

Piano rock lives. This album had a very unique vibe due to the instrumentation. BFF also feature some fantastic harmonies. "Fair", "Smoke" and "Missing The War" are all stellar.

More fantastic songwriting from Justin Currie on this one. Twisted has a harder, raw feel to it than earlier Del Amitri records. Highlights are "Here & Now", "Being Somebody Else" and "It's Never Too Late To Be Alone".

The debut from Jellyfish. This album was released when nobody was making music like this. Their bravery is our reward. Stand out songs are "That Is Why", "I Want To Stay Home" and "Calling Sarah".

The creative pinnacle of R.E.M.'s career. One of those few albums that take the listener to another place. The album is not just a collections of songs; its an experience which involves the passage of time and questioning truth.

PDP relocated from Austin to Chicago and put together their most cohesive and deepest work.

This late 90's album seems to be forgotten. I still think it is one of the most cutting edge and witty albums ever. "I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending" is amazing. Gregg Alexander's skills as a producer shine here.
