"Slow-core at its best. This is actually quite heavy, the distortion is loud and the lyrics tender. The lead singer sings on Wird: "I wanna walk/But I have to crawl", and I guess that sums up Codeine's music as well. "2 Glasweigan brothers known for their feedback drenched albums and chaotic gigs get some cowboy hats and acoustic guitars and make a country album. This really shouldn't work but for me it does due to solid songwriting, a commitment to the premise that never breaks the illusion of driving along r..."  [+]  Reply

"While on 1998's TNT it seems like the drums are the instrument that everything is centered around and that we are focusing on the most, here on their debut it's all about the bass. There's some interesting stuff happening on the drums and other percussion instruments, like marimbas and stuff, but..."  [+]  Reply

"Primal Scream make a wrong turn into blues rock territory, but they still manage to fashion a good album out of it. Although it has to be said, compared to the rest of their work in the 90s it is a bit of a let-down. As long as you don't expect much, I'm pretty sure a listener will find things to..."  [+]  Reply

"fairly weedy synth pop, occasionally it soars but often it plods. And the lyrical concerns are fairly straight, if always playful. So, disappointing for a Sparks album for me."  Reply
