The album where Muse found themselves and their sound. Agressive, raw and still very galactic. If you already hate Muse, chances are that this album will piss you off the most! Consistent brilliance with the amazing cover of "Feeling Good" as one of the standouts.

U2 settle down after a decade of electronic experimentation. A new millennium and a new look at the world, U2 have matured. One day reminded of "Beautiful Day", my interest in the band had arrived. I used to see the song as a celebration of life in a carpe diem way ("don't let it get away" as an advice not to waste any day you've been given), but now I see it more as an moral not to dwell on the past instead of moving on, a general theme on the album.

On the surface, just a pop album, but it runs deeper than just pop music. This is highly ethereal, lush and sensual... the latter thanks to the female vocalists. No male vocalists to be found. Listen to "Falling" and tell me a male could make it work!

The sound of those final leaves being ripped off from the trees by the wind in very late autumn. Also, it's all foggy and mysterious. It would have been totally unsettling had it not it been for those soothing baby-like vocals that somehow remind you of your own mother!

Hysterically catchy and energetic. A wonderland of modern lo-fi indie rock and beloved classic psychedelic 60s influences. Thrown in are some odd, odd and very short instrumental interludes that are part of its charm and part of its main flaw, but still a highly enjoyable and delightful treat of an album all the way.

Oasis redefining themselves after "Be Here Now" brought them out of fame. Much contrary to their idols, they incorporate multiple electronic elements to the music. Mellower and riskier than previous albums, it's regarded as one of their weakest efforts, but actually holds a lot of quality with many overlooked gems. Sadly, it could've been even better had either "Little James" or "I Can See a Liar" been replaced with what's possibly my favourite Oasis song, the B-side to "Go Let It Out", "Let's Make Believe".

"Love Kraft" literally jumps off with the sound of guitarist Huw Bunford jumping into a swimming pool and then continues in traditional awesome Super Furry Animals-style, if a bit mellower than usual, but still with loads of energy, catchiness and fun. "Atomik Lust" is a little reminiscent of "Surfs Up"-era Beach Boys and other influences are notable too, but Super Furry Animals are still as much their own animals as they're super and furry.

Søren Rasted's (from Aqua) collaboration with his nephew Nicolaj Rasted in a duo called Hej Matematik (Hello Math) on their debut album "Vi Burde Ses Noget Mere" (We Should See Each Other Some More). Strong 80s hooks, humourous lyrics full of attitude and just awesome, at least if you understand Danish!

Coldplay drifting into outer space. Swallowed in a sea of synths and cosmic guitars, it could be the sequel to a Pink Floyd album. Compared to "A Rush of Blood to the Head", the songwriting is a bit of a low, but overall Coldplay suceeded to deliver high quality if not quite as heartbreakingly moving.

Lovely cheery album about a robot (or something). The Lips' most cohesive album that transports you to a futuristic, psychedelic universe. Funky, at times childish, at others melancholic. Very delicious for the ears!

I tend to agree with you about the backlash against Coldplay--I think they're a fine band that's made a lot of great, emotionally resonant music. I don't think they deserve the Nickelback treatment at all. (And neither does U2, but that's a story for another day.) So I appreciate your chart for putting A Rush of Blood to the Head at #1. I also love Funeral (I know everyone does, but it's for good reason), Illinois, Fleet Foxes, and Chutes Too Narrow, among many of your other selections. I really enjoy your detailed comments, too.
