"One of my favourite singles bands, it's only relatively recently that I've really started listening to their albums. This is their punk-pop beginnings and its a superb start, although probably not one for the listener who likes their more melodic later offerings."  Reply

"I revise my rating... For those of you having a hard time getting into this, this album was written when Kozelek's long time girlfriend, Katy, had died of cancer at age 35. Heron Blue is about her slow decline in health. A lot of the songs are joyful remembrances of her. Now try to get through th..."  [+]  Reply

"Absolutely fantastic! I have nothing in my collection like this so far! This is the music I am looking for and I'm sure it will only get better on further listens. From We Want War I knew I was onto something special and it holds up as a very good album all the way throughout. Well deserved the p..."  [+]  Reply

"I don't get all the really low ratings for this album. Seems like quite a likeable album to me. Not great, but if you liked it in the 90s, still makes for interesting listen every couple years or so. That voice is somewhat of a novelty. Most songs are catchy even if you can't quite remember them ..."  [+]  Reply

"I started to get this Willie Nelson meets Phish feeling, and then sometimes a George Harrison and John Lennon sound from the keys, vocals, and guitar. But still just ok."  Reply

"It truly puzzles me that this man, along with his music, aren't far more popular. I suppose this really just goes to show that the 'Greatest albums of all time' are only the 'Greatest albums of all time' due to the combination of: 1. The obvious towering appeal of their music. And 2. (More import..."  [+]  Reply

"This album is the result of a grueling amount of crap that Matthew Houck (aka Phosphorescent) had to go through following the release of “Here’s To Taking It Easy". According to him, he lost his girlfriend, was worn down by the road, and lost his place in New York. It had worn him down to almost ..."  [+]  Reply
