"I held expectations that I would most likely dislike this record, but upon giving it the opportunity to impress me,I was mystified. How can something so intensely raucous and screechingly unsympathetic to the human ear (which always expects and is attuned to harmony, resolution, and, most appropr..."  [+]  Reply

"When people think of Prince's best album, usually people point to either Purple Rain or Sign O' The Times. For me personally, I point to 1999 as his best album. It includes 3 classic hits (1999, Little Red Corvette, Delirious) and it includes hands down the best fusion of rock, funk, R&B, & new w..."  [+]  Reply

"Some albums are like being hit in the chest with a sledgehammer. This album is like being crushed by a mountain. Post-rock albums often give a sense of vast empty space and natural beauty. This album smothers you in scalding, acrid feculence until your sinuses congest and your lungs fill with bli..."  [+]  Reply

"DM's best album and the one that saw them finally enter stadium land. Tough and uncompromising, Masses was a further evolution of their sound - revisiting some of their favourite themes i.e. love, sex, death, and religion."  Reply

"I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One proved that Yo La Tengo could master any pop style, from bossanova swoon to pedal steel alt-country twang to a droning guitar swirl that verges on shoegaze. Funny that most of the arguments about this album center on whether or not it's shoegaze, since clearly ..."  [+]  Reply

"Overblown, vulgar, and violent. Of course. But this was so original and fresh when it came out. And years later, it stands head and shouldes over it's west coast imitators. It is THE gangsta rap album, and cannot be faulted because it is the best of it's genre by leaps and bounds."  Reply

"Stage Two of what might become the next great historically valued band of the generation. I only say this because their first album garnered well deserved attention, and then they evolved almost imaginably to make their sound even more closer to the heart with this album. The last three songs, to..."  [+]  Reply

"This album confuses me. Sometimes I feel like it is pretty good, but not quite great. Other times I feel like it is my favorite album of all time. Tracks 1-7 are some of my favorite U2 songs except for the instrumental 4th of July. After that there isn't too much going on. I like this album more ..."  [+]  Reply
