"Fun but very uneven debut album from The Who. Lots of excellent stuff (title track, The Kids Are Alright, Out in the Street, The Ox, A Legal Matter), but also lots of boring blues cover and so-so pop tunes. They would achieve better stuff later on, but this was a fine start."  Reply

"It's definitely a keeper, but then again I'm a big fan of the band, so not a big surprise. For me it is closest in style, content, and ease of listen to Bloom. Also, it's proving to be a real grower."  Reply

"The first side of this album is so obviously goofy with its complex made up story about gods and space adventures, but it doesn't matter because it still manages to be epic. Rush at their finest. La Villa Strangiato is a masterpiece. So much feeling and virtuosity, here. This is probably Rush's b..."  [+]  Reply

"I really did not see this coming. Of course there is a relationship with "Remain in Light" by TH, but the combined talent of Eno / Byrne makes this album the best and most innovative music of 1981. The processing of samples (tape loops, because digital technology was not yet available) is extraor..."  [+]  Reply

"Dire Straits' self-titled debut is often labelled as "pub rock". Whoever saw these guys play in a small club/pub/bar/whatever should be considered extremely lucky. Excellent guitar work throughout. I love the combinations of genres; folk, blues, rock 'n' roll, little bit of country. Sultans of Sw..."  [+]  Reply

"Annie embraces the chaos, and it's a gorgeous hot mess. Dilletante is a paranoid instant classic, Northern Lights is a marvel of battling guitars and Champagne Year is a hushed, pure beaut... just a fantastic album"  Reply

"Cracking album. Some superb guitar work. Jailbreak, Cowboy Song and Boys Are Back In Town are standout tracks. For years I never took this band seriously (sorry Thin Lizzy, I have grown up,now!)."  Reply

"One of the great rock albums of the nineties. Live through this, the follow up to debut, pretty on the inside, is a brilliant sneering rock classic. Courtney Love is on top form throughout, her voice is excellent, a totally underrated singer, who deserves a little more credit. There are some fant..."  [+]  Reply
