"black midi is not just a hype, for several months, I promise a bright future for this new English band. The four musicians have risen with ridiculous ease to the rank of the most exciting band of the UK underground scene, claiming their outsider status by an incredible stage presence. Everything ..." "It hasn't aged well, sounding a little dated today. However, at the time, PE dragged hip-hop kicking and screaming forward into a more relevant age. What cutting lyrics and what thunderous sounds. Modern hip-hop has improved upon this, but PE is to hip-hop what Buddy Holly is to rock and roll. Of..." [+] Reply

"Intimate, not whiny. Emotional, not overacted. Confident, not self-indulgent. Original, not recycled. Telling, not yelling. That's why this album is so great and the ones that came after it aren't." Reply

"I was never that crazy about Spoon until I heard this album. The great synths and punchy rock songs make this album much different from their previous material. Also, I love the production especially with the drums which sound very crisp. Great energy, very catchy, this is their best album yet in..." [+] Reply

"A buffet of music. Some really good stuff, some strange stuff, some fluff, some stuff that really grows on you. I can understand all the crap this album got back in the day. Realeased today it would be called a masterpiece. And, in many ways, it is." Reply

"A very sad album, but a good listen. He clearly knows he hasn't much time left with some of his song choices - In My Life, We'll Meet Again etc. His voice is clearly going in some of the tracks - In My Life is sung out of tune. Hurt for me is the stand-out track. Very poignant." Reply

"Father John Misty’s “Pure Comedy” serves as a reminder of the artist’s unique voice in the field of modern folk rock. He delivers a blend of humor and retrospective sadness into a package that demonstrates how he—and at least, I—view the world in its present state. Clever songwriting with an impa..." [+] Reply

"During most of my four years of college, I worked in a record store. (In truth, by that time we were selling mostly CDs and cassettes, though we did carry some vinyl.) This album, perhaps more than any other, got constant attention from us employees--it's just so immediately likeable, so filled w..." [+] Reply
