To me, and for many fans, this is the best live concert of all time, and if the band had released it as a live album, it would definitely make my greatest albums of all time list.
Ever since I first heard it about a decade ago, this has been one of my live-releases. In fact, the sheer performance is so good, across the board, that I'm confident in calling one of the greatest of all time, recorded or not – or heavily edited. Regardless, it sounds better than words can describe.
It just sucks ass from a straw that the thing has yet to be released as a live album. PM me about that...
In my opinion, the best live album of all time. (I am a massive fan of the Chili Peppers so no need to start yelling 'Live at Pompeii??' etc).
Every song you would have wanted them to play at that time, is played (more or less).
Frusciante does a marvellous job, with every solo being a smash, his backing vocals are silky and incredible and he sorts his feet out more effectively than Lionel Messi when it comes to his pedal board. Flea weaves into the groove with Frusciante as if they were born in the same crib with guitars in their hands born to play together.
People often critise Keidis' vocals and fair enough, but for this show they can all do one, because he is near flawless.
As always Chad is solid and a recently hardened rock.
Highlights include the extended and booming versions of Venice Queen and Don't Forget Me along with the short, vulnerable and beautiful rendition of the Chantel's 'Maybe' by Frusciante.
