A fine document of the evolution of The Blues as a musical art form is captured here on this multi-disc compilation album presented by Vanguard Records (Cat#: 193/95-2) from 2001, as it gives the listener performances culled from the years 1959 - 1968 at the Newport Folk Festival. Tracing the Delta blues through the Country blues and finally arriving at Urban blues, the album is an aural treasure of different styles and many different legends of the Blues genre.
