Late 1990s, Calgary had a great local music scene. Wagbeard, Red Autumn Fall, Placebo (lead singer was Feist), National Dust, Fire Engine Red, Chixdiggit, Forbidden Dimension, Primrods, Huevos Rancheros, and Lazablasta all seemed on the cusp of something huge. Some signed major records deal only to be lost in the shuffle, some moved to Toronto or Vancouver and slipped through the cracks, some broke up, and some have stayed on, still doing shows and recording. Leslie Feist was the only one to hit it big, and she had to leave town. The Earthquake Pills might have been the best. They had an original sound, a charismatic front man, and grooved and rocked through creative tunes. This was their best album, and they never amounted to more. Enjoy it - it's the sound of what could have been.
