My puberty sweetheart. The first compact disc i ever bought. I can still rembember where. Megapool in Arnhem, Holland. I was intrigued by the artwork. I had only heard Tonight, Tonight yet and was blown away by that song. I think this album has such great diversity with a classical piano piece, great popsongs like 1979, great guitar songs and a lot of great rock. Billy Corgan was on a regular writing spree. A while later they released The Aeroplane Flighs High with the Singles in it, all singles with 4-5 extra songs per single. And all great material too. Bizar how much great work was recorded on such a small time span. Afther this album i was addicted to the Pumpkins. Helped me get trough puberty. Amazing album! I got to know Jeff Buckley quite late, i think around the millenium. My mother had alway been a fan. But i was into other music streams at the time (Rage against the Machine / Offspring). I think Jeff Buckley had to grown on me a little when i re-discovered him. But i also got to recognize that he was one of the most amazing singer/songwriters the world had ever seen. Now, he is one of the artists i listen to the most. Last Goodbeye, So Real and Dream Brother, together with Hallelujah being my favourites. [First added to this chart: 12/19/2014]

The Killers are my favourite indie band. At least, until Sam's Town. It all went backwards after that awfull "Human". Sam's Town contains some of the best Killers songs. The energy that this album has from front to end is infectious, for example listen to This River is Wild and When You Were Young. [First added to this chart: 11/20/2014]

Classic. I think the most impressive work REM has made. Man On The Moon, Nightswimmming, Everybody Hurts and Try Not To Breathe. All classic popsongs. That characteristic voice of Michael Stipe gives me goosebumps again and again. [First added to this chart: 11/23/2014]

Another Pumpkins album my top-10. I discovered Siamese Dream after Mellon Collie and this album immediately became one of my all-time favourites. This album also has different more intense rocksongs where guitars are constantly present. Geek USA and Cherub Rock are awesome. But it also contains the somewhat more accessible track Today. Still one of my favourites. And offcourse tearjerker Disarm. "The Killer in meeeee is the killer in yooouuuu"! Volume 100 and singalong! [First added to this chart: 11/20/2014]

This was hard for me. Coldplay in my top-10. I Always tell people that i'd rather visit a coldplay concert then listen to an album at home. The energy at a coldplay concert is amazing. I've been three times and every time it has been special, great and consistently good. But, coldplay is coldplay. It has become more mainstream with every album. Public opinion from music lovers is that Coldplay is too much. Too big a hype, too little focus on actually making music. And when i talk to people about coldplay i tend to agree. But, again but, when i check my last.fm profile i find Coldplay being at the top nr 2 spot of my chart most listened to. Track Viva la Vida has become an instant classic track which i'm sure will be played still in 30 years. I don't think that is the same with the other tracks, but for now i must admit, i'm a fan. Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)

This chart is rated in the top 7% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 88.4/100, a mean average of 90.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 5.9.
