Some of us on this site are trying to interact as music lovers to share our interests and enlighten each other on what has given us a kick over the years.

Then there’s amoebas like yourself who feel they need to inflict a self-satisfying negative on the whole process. Well done you. I won’t even bother with a tit-for-tat low rating. I’m not sure why you felt the need to but *shrug* ..,

Given your comment on my chart, containing equal measures genuinely intriguing analysis and memetic humor, I thought I might respond. I do appreciate meme humor, when well done, including especially dada-ist forms. Your chart does present a satirization of BEA's culture; 48% radiohead, in no apparent ordering. And then choices that are either random or done by someone with at least a moderately in-depth knowledge of music (Terry Riley, Eno, Stereolab, Mississippi John Hurt). And then obviously meme/contrarian choices like DJ Khaled. I respect the humor that you are attempting, but I frankly don't find it very compelling or funny. Your attempt at edginess is insincere, in my eyes. I don't think I need to prove to you "in the essayist style" that Major Key is the best album ever, because you don't even believe it.

I do take BEA seriously. I think it's an excellent community to find music. And I have intentionally strayed away from sites like RYM that seem both more pretentious and memetic at the same time. I respect others that take it seriously too. I would be interested in seeing your real account chart, if such a thing exists. I sense that you would consider yourself intellectual, but one that enjoys disregarding conventions too. I respect that. I hope I don't come across as uptight, I wouldn't consider myself to be (but I know nobody does, probably).

I can see that this is an attempt at fighting the myth of objectivity, which I respect, but there are better ways to do it. You seem pretty hypocritical even; you chide others for seeking self-validation by rating others charts based on their own taste as being shallow ("Look how highly I value your chart as a means of self validation"). Yet your whole motivation seems to be that you are angry because others didn't validate your chart. ("A very real BEA member with a very real BEA chart who wouldn't take it anymore. who'll fight back 'gainst the plebs and the scum and all their flak").

The way I think about it, everyone will have their method for determining what is good and what is not; whether its because pitchfork told them too or because they truly like it more, does it really matter? Can you honestly tell someone that they don't like something because they like it for different reasons than you? In my eyes, no. But then again, we are all entitled to our views on what constitutes legitimate systems of liking and rating things. You may think differently, and that's ok. That's part of the reason I love this site

What the hell I am even looking at? I mean, is this beauty? has art gone too far? Will memes be the future to hummanity? God only Knows
