Some may not be in particular order, but these are 40 albums that have influenced me the most as a dedicated musician (drummer to be exact), as well as my personal favorite albums to listen to in their entirety. Numbers one and two are in correct order. The rest aren't really in order.

The second best concept album of all time, next to "The Wall". Album standouts include "Dance of Eternity", "Home", "The Spirit Carries On" and "Finally Free". This album is a VERY close second in my all time favorite albums.

Tool's debut album certainly was impressive. "Intolerance", "Swamp Song", and "Flood" are my favorites.

RATM's debut album. Heaviest album they've offered. Bonus: Special guest vocalist Maynard James Keenan of Tool on the song "Know Your Enemy".

This band is so under-rated. If you're a fan of early Metallica thrash, this band is worth your listen.

Truly an album that is ahead of its time. "Jealousy", "Overactive Imagination", and "The Philosopher" are magnificent works of Schuldiner's brutal art.

I can't praise Dream Theater enough, it seems. This album in particular is of the utmost of my DT fondness, specifically for tracks such as "Spade-Dye Vest" and the "Mind Beside Itself" suite. Just some great prog.
