I'm not sure why other members are labeling this a "hipster" chart, and I think you're quite right to challenge the term "hipster" altogether. I think it lost its meaning some time ago when it became a term of disparagement. In any case, there's a lot to like here, starting with Teen Dream (I know everyone loves that album, but it's for good reason), Have One on Me, Treats, and Visions. I have a kind of visceral dislike of all things Kanye, but I'm not penalizing you for that--it's really more my own neurotic preference for artists I can somewhat like as people as well as musicians. Anyway, I appreciate the thought that's gone into the making of this chart.
61 albums in common? i like your taste
I don't understand why I am being pressured to add my guilty pleasures on this site. If I am aware that an album is a guilty pleasure of mine then why would I put that album on my greatest albums list? The shins port of morrow is a let down in my opinion. I think it's good but not as good as their first two albums and not good enough to make my list unfortunately. You can brand me with the "hipster" stereotype if you like but I truly believe in my lists. I have put a lot of thought into my lists and if it looks hipster to you then I suppose I must be hipster. I think labeling my opinions as hipster is a lame cop out though. What is hipster anyways? Can you define that?
I agree with Hayden. This seems self-consciously hipster and indie, almost by-the-numbers. No guilty pleasures? Don't like a single thing that got overplayed on modern rock radio? Sure, everyone has their own taste and these charts are all works in progress... but come on, you can like Port of Morrow in spite of the fact that old people like me dig it, too. Don't get me wrong, though, I do like your chart a lot and gave you a deserved good rating.
Not exactly... Pitchfork only has about half of these albums in their charts. I realize it looks a lot like their charts but it will look more like my own as the decade goes on. Also your chart is pretty similar to mine so I could say the same about yours.
Lol. Pitchfork's exact listing 101.
man awesome chart! and the order is actually very similar. the major difference i see is pj harvey in your top 10. i could never get into her. sick chart though!
