I just have to say that I loved this album the first time I heard it at the great age of 14. But not only was it an instant connection, it was one that defined my high school years. This album has been reinvented as I listened to it through all of the most important parts of those years. It is something that will always remind me of my youth and I couldn't have picked a better album to be that. I view this album as a deconstruction of ego and how it can effect someone's life. The opening track is boastful and self-important. Ugh, She's American, and Change of Heart show how relationships can be skewed by our own arrogance. Paris, If I Believe You and Somebody Else are introspective and question how we can grow an learn despite this arrogance. Then The Sound and This Must Be My Dream find some semblance of self-love and appreciation. Each song is insanely danceable, even the most depressing ones.

An amazing band that I found by the pure luck that they were playing a show in Denver over Thanksgiving while I was there and wanted to see a local band. The show was in a beautiful church and I walked away feeling like I had knows their songs for years.

I started really getting into music in 2018. That year one of the most widely praised and beloved albums was the remake of Twin Fantasy so obviously with the timing I was being set up to have this be a defining album of my teenage years...... but it wasn't. I listened to it many many times but for some random reason i could not attach myself to it. I know for a fact I kept trying to like it but I have no memories of listening to any of these songs that year of it's release. As the years went on I would have random songs find their way into playlists (Drunk Drivers, Bodys, Maud Gone, Kimochi Warui, There Must Be More Than Blood)) But any CSH record as a whole did not find it's way into my life. Here we are in 2025 and the stars have aligned. A brand new CSH album is a contender for my album of the year and now I feel like I've been a die hard fan my whole life. So what has changed in my taste in the last 7 years? I personally think my own journey of creating DIY music has endlessly endeared me to Will Toledo and his efforts in music. I feel the love that I have for making music in the scrambled production and anxiety riddled on this record. And the songwriting itself is insane to think of being made after Toledo's freshman year of College. Having finished my own Bachelors at this point this record acts as such a perfect time capsule of these years of early adult life. Putting everything you have into a young love despite all of the road block that are put in your way, including the final roadblock of separating yourself from someone that you have infinite love for.

Modern pop-punk is a HIGHLY saturated market, it all sounds fairly similar, even though I'm s sucker for the sound this one stands out against the rest just with how angry and comical it is.

I feel like this is Brockhampton's Flower Boy, "Woah these guys have feelings?" I love feelings, it's just about time they started showing a more sensitive side on their records. And it's just one of those albums where if I hear one song from it I'll just want to listen to the whole record.

This album solidifies MGMT as one of the most interesting acts of the century. They've now delivered four albums that are all obviously MGMT but they change the sound enough to make it a new experience, this album especially is their most consistent yet with a very consistent theme and my favorite songs they've released to date. The first half has the songs that you'll probably remember the most, very radio-friendly catchy tunes that I love. After Me and Michael it starts to mellow out into a soundscape that blows me away. The second half won't be for everyone, but I think the first 5 tracks are some of the best tunes of the decade.

Igor Illinois Transatlanticism and Mercurial World in the top 10 is the way to go. MCR Neverind Weezer Jeff Buckley I like it. I'm not personally that big on the 1975 but I totally understand your reasoning. Good chart. Found this from Mag Bay btw.

I love this chart because it looks like the sort of chart my son would create ~ and despite the generation gap, we would still have ONE album in common - Jeff Buckley's "Grace".
Enjoyed the album comments.
Over the next few weeks I will venture off into some new music (for me) with this chart as my roadmap.
BTW - loved seeing 2 Aussie albums in the top 100!!
